The British Open at Turnberry, Scotland with Brent Ridge

Yeah, way!  Unfortunately uncle took the cup from the younger competition in the British Open at Turnberry in a tourney of Ridge.  I'll get em back.  This day I took some divits from the Scot's turf.  Check the sponsorship on that Turnberry scorecard! Bling, baby Bling.

You can view the artist in action here, on the Scottish turf of Turnberry.

Charline Von Hyle, Now or Else @ Tate Liverpool

I took a special trip from Scotland to England for this.  I went to the land of the Beatles, Liverpool where on the warf of the bay sits an outpost of the Tate.  They installed Charline Von Hyle's retrospective there, some 50 odd paintings or so.  An impressive showing of a mid-career artist.  It was worth the train trip.

PATCHWORK Group Show this Weekend, coinciding with Glasgow International

CENTER FOR 21ST CENTURY STUDIES is hosting a group exhibition of visual artists from the Glasgow School of Art MFA program.  The exhibition is titled PATCHWORK. The theme is in relation to this term because of its implication of multiple registers, fragmentary viewing, or multiple materials cobbled together to form an impurity of surface.  The show will include works of painting and drawing.

Artists: Hyojun Hyun, AlexanderOleksyn, Benjamin Rankin, Brent Ridge

Knuckle Sandwich

This baby is finally done.  I've spent one whole term plus my break finishing this (plus other similarly sized paintings).  This work has taken probably more turns than any painting of mine that I can recall.  There has been wholesale revisions of it as a work, and that essence of its journey has been translated into its final image.  I like that its a beat-up thing, its just a touch rocky, ya know?  Rest in peace you bastard!

Sneak Peek

That's a biggie almost done.  55 x 55 inches of paint plus stuff.
A touch of spray paint here and there was added after this picture
was taken, so this is a "in process" doc shot for my audience.
I'm out.  I've got a lot more to make at this point.
